The G5JJ Club callsign could be heard over the airwaves on 2m last night. Or should that be seen!? Operating from the Trinity Hill Nature Reserve, near Axminster (and Parks On The Air site), SSTV images were sent.
Set up was quick and easy, using a telescopic fishing pole as a mast for a home-made J-pole (made from 450Ω ladder line). This was secured to a post and a notebook running MMSTV, connected to a Quansheng K5 handheld.

Most of the equipment easily fits into a small bag, with the notebook and telescopic pole fitting in the rucksack. This setup for 2m SOTA / POTA use, could be made even more compact by leaving the notebook at home and using an SSTV app on your mobile phone...

A couple of photos were taken upon arriving at the site, uploaded into MMSSTV and pre-made templates overlaid. The mode of choice was Robot 36C and sending commenced. There was no expectation of completing QSO's, but following on from the Club talk on SSTV earlier in the month, even getting reception reports from Club members would be perfect.

The screen grab above was sent in from a Club member, who had used the Black Cat Systems SSTV app on an iPhone; this shows the G5JJ/P image and Club logo quite clearly. Reception was over an obstructed 26km path, using the Quansheng running 2W.
